Janton
Janton is one of Finland's leading players in the distribution of unaddressed mail and free sheet newspapers, having assembled a network of geographically dispersed distribution companies which collectively maintain comprehensive coverage of Finland's primary population centres. Leveraging this operational footprint, Janton is able to provide national businesses an unrivalled low cost direct to home advertising distribution channel. In addition, Janton publishes a free sheet magazine, which is distributed in the main urban regions of Finland and operates a web portal focusing on young adults. In 2006, Janton generated revenues of approximately €45 million.
In December 2003, a majority stake in Janton was acquired through a public-to-private transaction. Since the acquisition, Argan team members and Janton have completed a process of re-focusing the operations, divesting a number of non-core operations throughout 2004; including radio and TV assets, the main free sheet operations, a subscription newspaper and associated printing facilities, as well as some magazines. Janton has also continued the acquisitions of local distribution companies, further consolidating its position as the leading unaddressed mail distributor in Finland.
