Alfatherm
Alfatherm is one of the largest European producers of rigid PVC film and a leading provider in its home market of Italy. Alfatherm’s PVC film is used for a wide range of applications including packaging, furniture, stationary and credit cards. The company is based in Varese, Italy and operates from three production facilities in northern Italy employing over 550 people. In 2003, the company generated over €110 million in turnover. In 2002, Argan team members partnered with management to lead the acquisition of 100% of the company. Post acquisition, Argan team members supplemented the management team with an industry seasoned CEO and implemented a value creation plan focused on end product diversification toward a higher value add product mix and process centralization aimed at driving improved operating leverage. Having successfully implemented these initiatives, Argan team members endorsed a management buyout of the business backed by an Italian private equity firm in mid 2004.
